THE ROLE OF
WOMEN IN NATION BUILDING AND PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE
What is a nation without women? And what
constitutes an average woman without sound education? Which is the motivational
force that guarantees her freedom of expressions, being able to co-ordinate and
discharge her duties effectively, undermining all odds. A woman starts from home before it tracends
to the outside, having confidence in herself, which gratifies her
consciousness, regarding everything around her.
When a woman fails in her duties, it affects
not only her family, but the society at large.
What then is the role of women in nation
building, when they are deprived of sound education at youth? What knowledge
and impact, will they expect of them, especially in the minds of the public,
considering their roles for peaceful co-existence and attributes of trouble
free environment.
Women in our society, educates and
co-ordinates in pursuit of goal driven initiatives, touching lives, being ambassadors
of truth, culture and integrity, with interest of finding solutions to the
societal, moral decadents, navigating through successes, like our heroine past
achievers such as Chinyere Onyemucheya first lady pilot, ex-vice chancellor
Prof Grace Alele Williams, Grace Ezekoks, first lady engineer, the Ex-DG of
stock exchange, Mrs. Ndi Onyuke Okereke, Ex deputy governor of Osun State,
Erelu Olusola Obada, Dr. Dora Akunyili, Ex DG of (NAFDAC), elegant stallion of
the music fame, Onyeka Onwenu, our honourable, supreme court justice, Mary
Odili, Opra Winfrey and Ellen Johnson, the Liberian president to mention a few.
No doubt, we celebrate these female figures
of high repertuas for their consistency, honesty and transparency which is the
secret of coordination and governance which has provided them awards in various
categories – women are passionate creatures and extends it to everyone around
them. that is why, it is evident in our
special homes for the disabled and orphanages, where a lot of care, love and
tolerance, dominates. They run them
gracefully without bias and expects nothing in return from the public, but from
God who is the divine sustainer and rewarder.
They build the nation, by being employer of
labour, managing some acquisition centres where they teach fellow women on how
to become independent, having the knowledge of baking, sewing, hairdressing,
cooking, cloth weaving, raffia weaving, beading, pottery and knitting for
financial empowerment, not to lazy about and become liabilities to their
husbands at home which benefits the children’s upbringing.
Women are pillars in politics, when defining
their roles from the campaign stage to the final result stage where a winner
emerges to take up the nations responsibilities of their oath taking duties.
They help in community buildings and developments on the areas of having
concrete structures for their market outlets, where goods and farm produce are
sold.
A fund generating venture that proffers
peaceful co-existence amongst the traders. Our health system takes a tool,
where women advocates for free medical health services to have sufficient drugs,
available to their families including their extended relations, to checkmate,
diseases and reduce death cases of non-availability of drugs.
Women also pull their weights in rural areas,
where farming is consistent, and women, competing with their male counterparts
to raise agricultural produce, for sustenance and food security, having enough
to feed the society. They also go into livestock and fishing jobs,
using canoes to fish in rivers, smokes and sells them to stockfish and local
fish sellers for revenues all in the
quest for nation building.
Women’s doctrine on their children’s
religious lives, has added value to their moral behavioural, attitude, living
uprightly and desisting from fraudulent acts that could lead to judicial
indictments.
