Marriage is God’s idea
and institution, and the church is God’s ground and pillar of truth. So there
is no better place to have your wedding and start your journey into marriage
except in the house of God. If Jesus is the Lord of your life then he should be
the lord of your marriage. Wedding in church is an act of respect and honour
unto God. Marriage is honourable in all,
and the bed undefiled, but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge (Hebrew
12;4). It is said that the three most important days in a person’s life are,
the day you were born, your wedding day and the day of burial and among these
days, its only your wedding you plan and celebrate yourself, others are planned
and celebrated by family and friends on your behalf, so is it not such a
special day to celebrate in the presence of your creator?.
Life is spiritual, man
is a spirit and marriage is also a spiritual reality where God joins you and
your spouse together. .. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man
put asunder (Mark10; 9). Marriage vows are not simply a ritual, they are sacred
pacts through which the spouses embrace each other and together, embrace Christ
as their partner. Our Lord Jesus honoured wedding invitation while he was on
earth and it is recorded that his first miracle was at a marriage ceremony.
Wise couple invites Jesus into their marriage and they are sure to get a
miracle .The pledges made before God during marriage ceremonies are unbreakable
because marriage is designed to last a life time. When you make your marriage
vows before God in church the grace of God will rest in your marriage for good
and challenging times. The marriage preparatory classes in church are careful
planned to prepare young couples to have a good foundation in God’s word
concerning marriage. Always remember that marriage is God’s idea and his word
is the best guide for a successful marriage.
Marriage ceremony in
church is also a soul winning event. Many have given their lives to Christ during
wedding ceremonies and these are people who would not have any reason to go to
church, if not for the wedding invitation. So as you plan to celebrate, also
plan to cause heaven to rejoice, as you plan to win a soul for Jesus on your
wedding day... I say unto you that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one
sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need
no repentance. (Luke15;7)
