THE POWER OF LOVE

THE POWER OF LOVE

Love is defined as a profoundly tender passionate affection for another person, it is also a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection. The love of God is defined as either the love for God, love by God or God’s kinds of love. The God kind of love is called Agape. Agape love is the highest kind of love. It is selfless, sacrificial and unconditional love.  The God’s kind of love is a force, it can break any barrier, it can forgive any sin, it can mend any broken heart. This is the kind of love God expressed toward man kind when he sent Jesus to pay for our sin: John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life”

For us to live a peaceful life, we must learn how to love like God,  unconditional love. The book of 1Corinthians 13: 4:8: has one of the best definition of love. It says
“Love is patient and kind, love is not jealous. It does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE NEVER FAILS. But if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with”

If you are born again, then the love of God is in your heart by the Holy Spirit. Since God has put his love in your heart, he expects you to share that love with those around you. He wants the world to see and appreciate his love through you. Therefore use every opportunity in your daily encounter with people to express God’s love to them. This way you will be helping to make our world a very peaceful place for all, because without love, there will be no peace. The love for people is what really counts, because God is love and we’re to love like Him.
Ephesians 5:1 – 2:
“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children, and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling Savor”

Hatred for anyone, irrespective of what they may have done against you is unacceptable to God. The bad things about hatred is that he that hates suffers more than him that is being hated, because most people you hate, might not even know how much you hate them. Jesus showed us the excellent example by loving everyone He met. He loved even His accusers; those who put Him on the cross.

Love is self-giving, it makes you think of others and accept them just as they are. Love is unselfish and doesn’t seek its own. It breaks the barriers of race, ethnicity and social status. Take sometime to express the love of Christ to someone today and join in making Africa a more peaceful continent.
