FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Salvation is the great theme, which runs throughout the Bible from beginning to end. What is more, right through the Old Testament salvation is related to this world, as we can see so clearly in the story of Israel’s exodus from Egypt. Little is said about heaven but much, for example, about healing. Some tend to treat Old Testament revelation as outdated, but it is God’s ABC of goodness. Its promises are ours today. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “All the promises of God in Christ are yes, and in him Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20). Has it ever occurred to you that he was speaking of the Old Testament promises? Well, he was, as the New Testament had not been written then. The God of the Old Testament declared two great truths about himself: he is the healer and he never changes. In the New Testament the curtain goes up on Jesus as the image of the Father, crusading against sickness. Even a tassel on his robe gave health back to a sick woman who was considered a social outcast because of her illness. This God is your God. You can touch him too by faith. God bless you.
